Today’s winning exchange from work:

“Ma’am, your card declined. Do you have another card you’d like to use?”

“Well I wish you’d of told me that before you put me on hold, I thought you were putting me through to talk to someone.”

(I said, “Could you please hold while I verify your information.”)

“I put you on hold so I could verify your card, I didn’t find out it was declined until just now.”

At which point she angrily gives me another card number, which SHOCKER also doesn’t work.

I really worry sometimes, that the level of ignorance from the general public that I expose myself to on a daily basis is going to have some kind of long term effect.

I also worry how some people can be so clueless, in this day and age when it comes to anything remotely technical. I swear to god if you didn’t show them the power button some people would just bang on PC’s with discarded animal bones and scream at them.

I was 100% seriously asked “What’s the point of RSS, I don’t get it.” by a superior today.

I have more than once, cotenplated poking myself in the eye with a pen tonight.
