Well, I have to say this last weekend was insane. It was so nice to see everyone who came out, we ended up having a respectable 30 or so people come out on Sunday night to the pool opener. Vodka gummies were made by Ling ling, my favorite panda. Mac and cheese was made by the lovely Suzi who stayed with us until Monday night. Other’s brought booze or what have you, to the benefit (or detriment) of all.
People came whom I haven’t hung out with since high school or seen in years and it was wonderful reconnecting with them, new friends made at festivus came out and we found more common ground than either had expected. Le boyfriend cleaned his butt off while I had the spins (too many gummies floating in my sucker punch!) all in all I couldn’t have wished for a better gathering.
Monday afternoon we awoke to the bustle of people in the house as my father managed to shame my respectable 30 people with more than 50 people showing up for the cook out. This is the first year in a long time that we haven’t subsisted on BBQ left overs for days after the fact.
My sister had guests, my mothers family came by, my dad’s high school friends, work friends, there were people here I’d never met! That’s always the sign of a crazy good party.
After the family went home, and the party guests had taken their leave, Jenn, Suzi, Jon, Martin and I set off some patriotic (purchased out of state) fireworks that had been a gift from Mauro last summer. Twas exciting and pictures were taken. We also did some light painting, which is the first I’ve tried with a point and shoot digital, they turned out far better than expected.
This weekend was wonderful, and relaxing and life affirming, I am hoping it sets the tone for the rest of the season.
