There was a lot of drama in my last post, and I didn’t want to sully the fantastic experience I had last night, so I am making this its own post. Here’s the breakdown of my adventure to see Jay and Silent Bob’s Groovy Cartoon Movie screening at the Keswick Theater yesterday:
6:30 – On our way out of parking lot, I notice Jay smoking a cigarette out of the bus window, I ask if he’s gonna come out and walk around a bit, and he say he will, I ask if he remembers me and my sister, and he says he does, from the signing for Tough Shit in August. I decide to leave him in peace, so Steph and I proceed to Queen Chinese for sushi.
6:50 – Full of sushi, I see Jay walk by several times, I eventually make my way outside to talk to him. I took pictures with him, then he gave me his iphone to take an instagram shot for him. We start talking about the movie, and the tour, and Jay tips me off to the fact that if I wait around after the very expensive VIP meet and greet, about 45 minutes after the show I can visit with him AND Kevin!
7:15 – Chris arrives and and regales me with his tales of recent deeds, and plans to tell Kevin about the movie he’s going to make, and try to get Kevin’s considerable support behind. Also weirds Steph out.
8:00 – We head into the theater, have our tickets scanned, and are seated in row X, Mauro shows up in the nick of time. 5 minutes later we are told by staff we can move up, end up sitting in row E.
8:15 – Kevin comes out to introduce the movie, himself, and Jay followed by the pre-show shorts and movie. I did dip out a few times, to my defense, I had been up since 7am.
9:45 – The movie concludes, and is followed by Q&A of awesomeness, which is a recorded podcast, so I’ll be able to listen to my night over and over again should I desire to do so. several interesting characters got on the mic to ask questions, one of which was named birthright, and is an exterminator. There was also a Rock, Paper, Scissors champion who beat Kevin, and all around hilarity was had.
11:15 – Show ends, we move on to waiting in car for about a half hour, then wait around with the rest of the crowd hoping to talk to Kevin and Jay.
12:30am – Kevin and Jay emerge from the stage door and start taking pictures and signing autographs. I ask Kevin when we get to play poker again, and when he’ll be back in Philly again. Kevin lets me know there should be a poker game coming up in the next few months, and mentions he remembered playing with me. We talked about Chris’s script, and how he’s got a great idea on his hands. I hope Jamie likes it, Chris wants all the proceeds to go to benefit the Wayne Foundation, and he wants to put up donation boxes at showings if he gets to take the movie on the road.
1:30 AM – I get home, am exhausted, and post pictures / gloat on Facebook.
