When something goes wrong, Steam generates the option to report bugs or issues, and someone in support takes care of it once it’s received. After a week of no response, the steam user that_earlguy deemed the process unfit, and decided to bring his problem to the doorstep of Valve’s managing director. Oddly enough, Gabe Newell, Steam’s Nerd in Chief spent time on the issue personally. The screen grabs have been floating around lately, Gabe took one for the team and helped the guy out.

Not passive aggressive at all, I wonder if he’s a distant relative.

that_earlguy admitted he “may have got a little passive aggressive, but (he) didn’t want to end it without (Gabe) knowing (he) was still a fan!,” within two hours his issue had been fixed. Of course, once the issue was resolved he wanted to post it to social media, but he had some trepidations, so he asked Newell’s permission to post the exchanges.

And of course, since Gabe Newell is a classy B.A.M.F. he responded thusly:

While I don’t think this is an open invitation to bother Newell with bug fixes and crash reports I do think it’s supremely cool that someone so far up the chain in any company would bother to answer email and help out on a support ticket.
I’ll definitely keep this in mind the next time Steam freezes my computer.
