Sorry for the lack of updates! I have some on the way though. Last Wednesday night I went downtown to see The Kills live. (Alison Mosshart “VV” and Jamie Hince “Hotel.”)
There’s something magical about going to a live show for a band or singer you really like. There’s something about feeling the bass reverberate through your body, through the floor that is one of the best feelings in the world.
Something about sharing that with other people who love that music as much as you do, makes it even better. It’s one of the few times where I don’t care if my hair gets messed up and my make up runs, and I sweat in a crush of strangers because we’re all sharing that experience.
Day in, day out, work, eat, sleep it’s a little mundane from time to time, but I know that it’s all for the future, for later in life, the things I’ll need and need to do. It’s also for those shining moments when you share your love for something or someone with a room full of drunk, dancing, freaks who are sharing their love right back.
Seeing The Kills live was awesome, and even though it killed my back to stand around the TLA for four hours it was worth it, it was more than worth hanging out by the front doors for an hour after the show to meet them later.

They were so nice, and so genuine that I totally forgot that my back problems, because I was talking to them, they were signing the LP of Midnight Boom that I picked up, they were hugging me, and thanking me. Alison (Mosshart) has a star tattoo on her left wrist, which upon seeing I pointed out my star tattoos, and my Boosh tattoo, which she was very pleased by.
It was awesome and lovely and I know some people are wary of meeting their idols for fear that they’re going to be less than they envisioned, but I’ve been very lucky to this point, in that every musician or celebrity I’ve met has been just as awesome as I’d hoped they’d be, some even more so.
Being able to experience moments like that is well worth the trouble, for me, at least. I hope to continue to be fortunate enough to make these moments happen, and I’m extra thankful for the people who come along on these adventures with me.
